Melbourne, we’re calling it. The longer days, the warmer evenings and let’s be honest, any break from that winter, can only mean one thing – Spring has most definitely sprung.
This time of year our beautiful peach of a city is abuzz with dinners on decks and beverages on balconies, with more hours of daylight calling for a cheeky wine after work, just because.
One of the best places to celebrate an end to the bitter cold is Southgate Melbourne, with alfresco dining and pinch-yourself city views across no less than twelve bars and restaurants, perched on the edge of the Yarra River.
To make the whole experience even more tantalizing, four Southgate hot spots are embracing lazy European afternoons with some delectable Aperitivo hours on offer.
When it comes to Aperitivo there’s no doubt the Italians do it best. And where better to taste-test the authentic Aperitivo than at Southgate’s multi award winning Italian restaurant Tutto Bene.
Kick starting the warmer months, Tutto Bene is running ‘AperiTutto’ daily on their spunky terrazzo from 3.00pm – 5.30pm. From half price tap beer to $6 house wine and $10 Italian cocktails; there is something for everyone.
Why have one Italian option when you can have two! And this option includes a free drink, which is always a welcome addition.
Every day between 4.00pm and 5.30pm you will receive one complimentary tipple (think Aperol Spritz, Campari, Vermouth, Negroni, Sbagliato and Prosecco) when you buy one of a selection of mouth-watering antipasti platters. Bellissimo!
There really is no end to the deliciousness that is Greek street food. And everyone’s favourite, ENA, has just launched a new spring menu that has our mouths watering!
If that wasn’t enough they have added some delicious Aperitivo cocktails…you’ll want to trying their new twist on the Aperol Spritz (hint: it contains Tawny Port). It’s the perfect match for their new Chef’s Sample Plate: saganaki, zucchini fritters, crispy feta, dolma, pita bread and dip.
If you like Aperitivo with a side of charcuterie (who doesn’t?) then look no further than the decadent Waterslide Bar.
Waterslide offer one of the best chef’s selection charcuterie boards going around: cold meats, shredded confit chicken, saffron pickled cauliflower, assorted condiments and toasted ciabatta.
And most importantly, they do knockout drink specials almost every other day, which let’s face it, is just what the Spring you looking for.
